FAQ

1. Information about the biological facts of paternity tests

The human genome of each individual consists of equal parts of DNA from his or her biological mother and father. These parts can be used for a paternity test. Up to 16 (15 autosomal STR-markers and 1 gender-marker) DNA-markers are analyzed in our lab. The alleles of the kid and the possible father were compared to each other and where necessary also to these of the mother.
If the alleles from father and kid fit in all markers, then paternity of kid and father could be approved with a likelihood of at least 99,9%.
If the alleles do not fit in 3 or more markers, then the paternity of kid and father is excluded.

2 Procedure

2.1 How to place an order?

We need a written order and also a written consent explanation of all participants of the paternity test. In Germany genetic analyses (also paternity tests) are ruled by a special law. According to this law we are beholden to inform all participants about the paternity test before we start.
We send you a written explanation. After all participants read this explanation carefully, they must confirm that they were informed. Otherwise we are not allowed to do the analysis. For any questions please call us or send an e-mail.
We send you all documents, alternatively you could load them from our web-site.

Please transfer the money of the invoice amount to our account. To make it easier for us to dedicate the money please use your name as subject. We begin with the analysis as soon as your money arrives.

2.2 How to take the biological samples?

We want to prevent you from extra costs for sample taking. So you could perform the sampling by your own. We send you two pad-pens for each person together with a clear guidance. Since spittle is not appropriate to do our analysis please make sure to put pressure on the head of the pad-pen and skim it over the inner site of both cheeks for at least 6 times.

2.3 About the analysis procedure

After your biological samples arrived in our lab, we extract your genetic material, the DNA, out from these samples.  All Systems that are necessary for our analysis were increased by PCR-reaction. Up to 16 System were analyzed to perform the paternity test. After this, we write a clear report and send it to you as our customer.

3. How many persons must be analyzed?

Normally the analysis of kid and possible father is sufficient to do statistical secured analysis (Inclusion probability of at least 99.9% or Exclusion probability of 100%).
Nevertheless, in some cases the Inclusion of the mother could be necessary to do a statistical secured analysis.
For this reason we recommend to include the mother in the analysis if possible.

4. Quality

Our lab is certificated according to German Institute for Standardization EN ISO / IEC 17025:2005.
Our especially trained staff evaluates your test according to the newest state of science and with greatest care.
The storage of your samples and data is safe and private. Only persons who are concerned with the analysis of your samples have an access authorization.

5. Take note

In Germany genetic analyses (also paternity tests) are ruled by a special law. A genetic analysis (paternity test) without understanding of all participants is not possible and forbidden by this law. According to this law we are also beholden to inform all participants about the paternity test before we start. All participants have to agree with the analysis.

As we want to prevent you from extra costs for sample taking, you could perform the sampling by your own. Please take notice to label the samples exactly. We will analyze the material according to your labeling and cannot guarantee if it is right or wrong.
Please notice that the report of the paternity test is for private purposes only. Since you take the samples by your own, an acceptation by court may not be possible.

We offer two variants of the paternity test:

I Test without analysis of the mother (only kid and possible father): 160,-€*
